Turbo Question

How difficult is it to remove turbo and clean it? Consider myself shade tree mechanic just wondering if this is something I dare tackle????

are you having issues? do you idle alot? do you use a fuel additve?

Not to highjack this thread but I am having issues. Over boosting. I am reading several times boost levels in the 40+. I am not pulling anything, I use a fuel addtive, no programmer and I do not Idle alot. I have 44k mile on it now but at about 34k I had overboosting and then no boost so I took it in they worked on it running some type of diag. and cleaned the EGR valve, it worked for 2 days than the no boost problem came back Intermittently so I unplug the EGR valve and I have had no problems until now. Could it be the turbo just needs clean or does it need a new one. It is the orginal turbo. 2004

be best if it was replaced. they redesigned the unison ring to help all turbo issues so untill you can take it in, be careful for your headbolts sake

I would get it replaced if u still have warranty left. Yes u can take it apart ..but does take some kind words to separate the 2 halves..but yes it can b done...good luck....let us know how it went if u do it yourself...
