I.A.T help
1. How do I get rid of this problem?
2. What is the function of the I.A.T.?
Would like help from anyone that had this problem fixed or knows how to fix.
This sensor, located in the air intake duct, supplies the computer with temp info on the air entering the engine.
The computer supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the IAT sensor, so pull it's electrical connctor & check for voltage with the key at run, but engine off.
The IAC is a variable resistor, whos value changes with temperature. The colder it is the HIGHER the resistance, the warmer it is the LOWER it's resistance. So the 5 volt ref returning to the computer will change with air temperature.
Right now the computer is unhappy with the input it's getting from the IAT.
Could be a faulty IAT sensor, or a poor electical connection to it, or maybe the 5 volt ref to the IAT, from the computer, is corrupt, or the return signal from the IAT, to the computer is corrupt.
