Engine Miss
What have you checked so far?
Have you identified which cylinder(s) is missing?
Is it getting spark?
Is the plug OK?
Is it getting fuel?
What is the compression?
You need to answer these basic questions first, as they apply to any engine, not just a 460.
Once we get the basics out of the way to isolate the kind of problem, you can narrow down more specific tests.
If you need help with any of these steps, be sure to post back, and we can get you started.
Well i checked the compression and couldn't get any readings until i squirted oil down the cylinders and i was only reading just around 60 psi i'm wondering if the guage is accurate i did phone the local machine shop and they thought maybe i had stail gas and i bent the pushrods but i am having a hard time believing that?.......very frustrated
Jeff
You are right i've had it since the eighties and i think it had better days i borrowed my mechanic freinds mac tool guage and it showed around 115 to 120 in all cylinders except number two which showed 105 this is without running the engine first and they are all within the standards of a properly running engine the plugs are all showing normal coloring for firing i'm thinking it's a carb or vacuum leak problem let me know what else you think it might be..........thanks again
