I am going to put oil and temp aftermarket gauges in my 77 F250
My question is. Looking at them there is a wide price range. So I don't get into trouble here.Is there a big diffrance other the quality.

Your post almost seems like you posted in mid-sentence. Anyways if you are asking why the big price spread its simple ..... you get what you pay for. Unless you are going raceing or are big into super accurate readouts a mid range gauge will likely suit you. Hope this helps.
i run the factory guages in the dash, and have auto meter mechanical guages as a second opinion.i know its overkill, but i feel better having two oil pressure, coolant temp, voltmeter, trans temp, diff temp.if one doesnt read correctly,i have a back up to look at. i have had factory guages "lie" to me before. i agree with WESTERN STAR middle price range is fine for the average persons needs.
Check your other post re oil pressure for more info. Use an electric sender for an oil pressure gage. The cheapo mechanical gages can get real fun when a hot oil leak starts under the dash or even out in the engine bay. Murphy's law says that the engine will always spring a leak a moment AFTER you look at the gage. That is why I use an idiot light for a backup. You also don't have to play guessing games wondering which gage is right. The OEM gages work real well if kept in good shape. Check the Read First: FAQ thread at the top of the 73-9 forum for info on how to repair and maintain the instruments.
