Real simple question I have a 97 with a 4.6 Triton motor I need to replace the head gasket on the passenger side number 3 is leaking nothing else is wrong with motor so I have it torn down to timing chain cover and ready to remove DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE DRIVERS SIDE VALVE COVER COMPLETELY OFF TO TAKE TIMING CHAIN COVER OFF or can I take to first 2 studs out of the drivers side front valve cover and side the timing cover off. I just want to replace the passenger side head gasket and get rid of truck.
Yes I thought real serious about doing that but I did review after review and videos of people testing many brand over and over and most of them failed or didn't work so I thought if I do this and it doesn't work then I'm right back where I started replacing the head gasket.
Perhaps, but for a $22 investment and the chance to avoid ripping the head off, to me it's seems worth a try.
Seems a bit deceptive to me, it won't last and you'll end up in the end owners "little black book" I think the honest thing to do is sell it as is or replace it the correct way. you do not have to take the valve cover all the way off, just have to loosen all the bolts and remove the front 2 bolts, make sure to apply silicone to the corners when reassembling.

Thank You Very Much I kept looking at it and looking at it thinking thats what I could do. This is just kinda waste my time if I don't have anything better to do. Haven't driven it 2 years. Have most of it torn down had to take a break to get metric bolts to pull harmonic off and take power steering pump off and I'm ready to pull timing chain cover. Ran into snaf foo when it tells you to get the last bolt for steering pump from under neath well the truck sets 6 inches from ground so I have to get a floor jack out there just to raise it for one bolt. But took some more time to fix diesel the water separator valve was leaking so fixed that yesterday don't drive it much either but I don't like it marking it spot either. Thanx
