I recently notcied that my brake pedal goes alittle further to the floor when stopping, my first brake job was done back at 70k by a ford dealer and my fluid reservoir is full. What is causing this and what do I need to do to fix it?
My 97' is the same way at the moment. Actually found that my vacume booster was bad, at first, so I replaced that, but had same problem. Going to replace master cyl myself in spring.

Well, you have 35,000 miles on your pads. that is not too far from the life of some pads. It sounds like a lot of us are changing them at this interval.
Also if you do a lot of hard braking your pads my have worn down.
If you have thin pads, your pedal is going to go closer to the floor. and it will continue as your pads turn into nothing. Same as if your rotor thins out.
the farther your caliper/pads have to squeeze shut....the more fluid is going to be drawn into the lines. when you release the brake the fluid comes back out and returns to the resvoir and looks full. I'd start there first.
Check your brake pads and rotor.
Hello Bronc1, It does sound like a master cylinder problem. You probably have 4 wheel disk on this truck and there is not a whole lot of fluid that returns to the master cylinder when you take your foot off the brake pedal. Do you feel as though you have to press really hard on the brake pedal to make the brakes stop you or are you just needing to press the pedal further to get it to stop? Joe
