Bronco Tailgate ?
I got rear-ended late last week and have some questions concerning what year tailgates are the same. I have a 94 xlt bronco with a tire mount on the tailgate. I will need to be replacing the talegate but the glass is ok. Is it true that from 83 to 96 the tailgates are the same. Any help on the subject would be great. Thanks

JBG sells the same tailgate shell part for 83-96... so I think it's a safe guess. BTW, when you replace it, could you post the procedure? The body shop that replaced my rear quarter panel didn't put the torsion bar back in properly. I've been looking for a tailgate replacement walkthrough

I will put something together once i have decided what we are going to do. We are either going with a used one or buying a new one. The insurance is cutting a check and once that is done I will start on it. The tailgates look the same from those years but need to make sure before I go buying older tailgates. Thanks for the input.

Watch for the tire mount on the gate. I don't know why but my '87 has the gate mount tire and my '88 has the interior mount tire so there is no mounting hardware for the gate mount on my '88. I don't know if you can drill and mount the style on my '88 or not but just a little info.
