I think it will make a great looking 4x4, very tough!
I'm not building my truck to be a super fancy show truck either. Basically I'm having fun with it and trying out different ideas. It sure is great to be able to park it in a parking lot and not worry about door dings, etc.
What kind of axles are you using? Are you going for rockcrawler or just all around 4x4 fun?

front axle is in the 2nd picture; it's a '77 ford Dana 60 narrowed about 6", converted to 35 spline axles, i'll be using dodge knuckles/hubs/spindles etc..... i've got dually Dana 70 rear out of a '72 dodge truck i've already converted to disc brakes i'm planning on using.
no rockcrawler, just an all around 4-wheeler/sunday driver........(build on a budget)
I know all about the budget. I'm a huge tightwad (have to be). Basically my truck funds comes out of spare change. I toss all my spare change in a bucket, when it gets full, I can buy some parts
Again, it sure souns like its going to be one tough truck once you get it all together. I can't wait to see it

Looks good, nice to know I'm not going to be the only one with a 52 4x4. Still gotta find a front axle for my setup though (going to use a dana 44 off a early bronco).
What are you going to be using a a donor for front springs? I've been toying with getting a leaf spring setup off of a 72 or earlier Ford 3/4 or 1 ton 4x4

i have a little selection of used Jeep and fullsize dodge spring packs, front and rears (some already taken apart)
first i'll get a pair of main leafs, longest that will fit truck, without major surgery, then get 3 or 4 more to build the rest of the pack.
.....it's alot of work, but i'll be able to adjust my ride height/stiffness later...
then again, i've been looking at the coils of my 78, Hmmmm
little more progress......
got the front axle and springs installed, weight is on the axle in both pictures.
i still may add another leaf to with alittle more arch later, it's going to be tough to mount the steering box with the room i have available.
you can see the old spring hangers/mounts if you look close, this spring back is about 9" longer that the factory one. i pretty happy i will be able to use the factory shock mounts.
those 6 studs are to hold the spindles on, but the axle is a mis-matched 1-ton Dana 60, here's a link to the original buildup, i originally built it for a jeep....... http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/dana60front.html
also, no one's born with fab skills........ there collected like anything else just practice, and learn form others.....
took a breather from working/thinking about my 3x1 barrel intake/carbs setup.
finished converting a transfercase i build years ago to a divorced setup and mocked up drivetrain on floor next to frame, longer that i first thought......lucky i've already decided to move rear axle back about 6" front factory location.
thought i'd bring back this thread instead of start another............
i'm no longer using the Dana 70 rear, got a 10.25 installed now.
the wheels/tires are just on to move it around, it has dually hubs, just no dually wheels yet.
i moved both rear crossmembers and install a gas tank (and skid plate) out of my parted out 89 Jeep
next on the list is to make the final decision on engine/tranny location and build/modify some mounts, i'm also still thinking about where to set the transfercase, i don't really want to move or modify the middle cross member, but i guess i have too.
fyi, i have another buildup thread on Pirate4x4.com going on, some have PM'ed about.
