hello, I have a 96 bronco W/5.0 and was wondering if anyone out there used Bosch spark plugs on there rigs. If so how they worked, liked or dislike? etc.
I have Bosch Platinum +2. I get more longevity than just the old fashioned single tang. I spend a little more and yes I think Bosch plugs and premium wires do make a difference.
If your engine came with platinums, replace with the same or equivalent. As long as your plugs are the correct heat range for the engine that is all that matters. Heat range means how much heat the plug retains and disapates to the surrounding head. Too hot a plug can cause severe pinging because you have a hot spot in the combustion chamber. I had Bosch Platniums in my bronco when I got it but it was pinging badly before I replaced them with the standard oem motorcraft plugs.
I personaly won't run anything but autolites in my fords, just my preference. I do run bosch in my wifes vw though.
About the +2 and +4- Uhhh fellas, electricity takes the path of least resistance all the time every time. So your not gonna get 2 or 4 sparks from one single point. I can see how they could last a little longer-that if one prong gets gummed or melted the plug would still have fire, but I think it's just a sales ploy, kinda like fram- our package looks better, so we must have a better product
I have ran bosch in everything else and never had problems. however, when I worked at Advance Auto, I heard many say that Bosch and Fords don't go well together, so I use Autolites in mine
I put bosch in mine 6 years ago and just swapped them out last week with autolites. It runs much better now compared to last week. The bosch lasted a long time for me but I got cheap this time.
