bye bye IDI hello powerstroke

I am just about to buy a '96 F350 in fine shape. My old '86 6.9l IDI has been a good girl. I will be alittle sorry to see her go. I'm a little nervous about moving away from the mechanical Injector system and into the whole computer thing with the powerstrokes. Should I be concerned? Also do these Direct Injected engines like BioDiesel?
