I have seen 3 or 4 cars lately that were raised ABOUT 3 FEET off of the ground riding on what looked like 25 inch wheels, I thought the LAW said that you couldnt change the original bumper height but several inches,Whats sup with all dat? Im in north carolina Are the cops afraid that some illegal aliens are driving them and dont want to offend them with a ticket?
yes, that would be stereotyping because we all know the people and culture that are interested in those types of cars would never commit any kind of crime.
This one is gonna go sideways. But I'll jump in anyways.
In CA the law regulates the height of the lights on a vehicle.
Tail Lights: 24602.
(2) The lamps shall be mounted not lower than 12 inches nor higher
than 60 inches. Head Lights: 24400. (a) A motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall be:
(1) Equipped with at least two headlamps, with at least one on
each side of the front of the vehicle, and, except as to vehicles
registered prior to January 1, 1930, they shall be located directly
above or in advance of the front axle of the vehicle. The headlamps
and every light source in any headlamp unit shall be located at a
height of not more than 54 inches nor less than 22 inches.
Those cars are showing up around my area.A guy at work had a Crown Vic with 26s on it. I asked him how good it stopped with the big wheels. He said it was ok. He totaled it a wk later by rearending a big truck. The high lights aren't the only reason those cars are dangerous. Those big wheels increase the load on the brakes a lot

Im surprized they alow them that high .54 inches, thats almost 4 1/2 feet higher than standard.gezz. In my town where code inspectrors sneak around catching people with flat tires in their own yard I should have known they were legal. or they would have gotton a ticket BEFORE THEY EVEN LEFT THEIR OWN YARD.
While I haven't seen one that high, we have quite a few of them around here; especially near my office which is in a bad section. They have been around for about 1.5 years so far. I thought they would have left by now. Those paint jobs also started showing up about the same time.
there has to be some unforseen strain on a cars steering , brake and suspension unless someone has installed a truck frame underneath . I dont think the cops would let it pass with the bumpers that high off the ground either .
Mississippi has height laws but I don't think they enforce them. I say this because a local window tint shop owner has a Chevy that you can almost walk under and he drives it everyday.
in saskatchewan height regulation is 4 1/2 feet from bottom of bumper to ground i don't mind large tires and rims 19" or 20" but they must tuck in the fenders.
