240 or 300 ??

i just found a 240 head last night for $30 at the local salvage yard, pulled yesterday. haven't gotten it yet, but it's spoken for.

So I can bore the 240 out. And put the rotating assembly from the 300 into it? And use either head? How much do I bore the 240? Are these internally or externally balanced?

Hay it's either this or the GMC Diesel.

Bore?

240 and 300 have the same bore, only the strokes differ. Cranks and Rods are different throws between the two. So if you swap the 300 internals into the 240 you'll have a 300 w/o overbore. It will have a higher compression ration due to the smaller volume of the 240's head. i recomend this swap, it works great for me.

the engine is internally balanced.

If I'm not mistaken, all inline engines are inherently balanced.
