Locking Doors By

My wife has a 04 Escape Limited. I got to a gas station and got out of the car (the keys are in the ignition) and shut the door. While I am pumping the gas I here all the doors lock. Then my wife asks me to unlock the car but the keys are in the ignition and she claims she did not hit the button. Got out of the car and the doors locked by themselves. Anybody ever here of this.. Like my superduty I thought the drivers door was supposed to stay unlocked with the key in the ignition. Or could it be a fluke incident?

This has not happened on our Escape - YET - it happened on both of the T-Birds('94/'97) and the '97 F150 vehicles I have owned in the past. It has not happened on the '01 F150 - YET. My lesson has taught me that at least a spare non-chip key just to get in is a good idea rather than wait for AAA. I take the key out now as well when I Pump gas. Ford has had a problem here - and for at least 13 years for me

If I leave the keys in the ignition (on or off) the doors will not stay locked when the drivers door closes. It's an 05 4wd xlt.
