I have a 99 F250 SD with auto/manual hubs the "shift-on-the-fly" system.
If I turn the hubs to "lock" and engage my 4wd from the **** on the dash to 4-HI it works fine but when I turn the hubs to "auto" and engage 4wd the light on the dash panel comes on but I have no 4wd. I am thinking it might be the shift motor on the transfer case?? Please help with any info.
THANKS
If the actuator was bad, you would not get 4wd when you lock the hubs. So the problem is in one of the hubs. It always is. You have one or both that is not engaging, and will not allow you to put power to the front wheels.
Those hubs are JUNK. Sorry,You'll have to see if you have the correct vacuum signal going to the hubs. If you do one or more of the hubs is bad or seals in that area are leaking.
