thinking about changing my gears

I have a 2003 7.3 PSD and slightly modified with tuner, intake and exhaust. I also have lifted it 6.5 inches and running 37's. My stock gear is 3:73 and its ok but I can tell a slight difference in acceleration since I put the tires on. What gear would put me close to original....4:56 or lower? Help is much appreciated and what would be a good brand

If you want back all the lost power the 56's would get you where you need to be. 4:11's would gain you some power and keep rpm's down at highway speeds to help mileage.

Thanks Mech, I am only getting about 16 now with the 3:73 in it. I was getting almost 20 before I lifted it. How bad do ya think the 56's would hurt the mileage?

I would go with 4.56's, it's almost perfect. Do not go with anything that is numerically bigger in size, the pinion head gets too small, and under the rigors of a high-torque diesel, you risk a greater probability of shearing a pinion gear off.

Kris is right, the 56's should get the mileage back close to stock under the same conditions.
