[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Oct-02 AT 11:24 PM (EST)]Ok. I have a tan 89 EB. Lifted and purty. But my alternator caught on fire and burned a nice nasty hole in the paint on the hood. And the pain is worn and faded in other spots. Time for a paint job. Assuming I can come up with the cash, I need feed back on what color to go for. Got some pics if you're interested.
I say if you aren't going to stay with the original color, try going with any red but make sure it's not an orange red, I think red would compliment the tan shell the most. Unless you are painting that as well then well the sky is your limit!

And if you are keeping the tan top and have a tan interior, you still have a ton of options. Some recommendations would include tan top (as it is), tan lower rocker panels (as it is), with any darker to medium shade of green (including midnight), blue, red (as mentioned), black, or white. Just about all of these combinations were available from Ford, so if you want something a little more custom, try a shade from a different vehicle line or manufacturer. I have to admit that Lexus and some others mixed nicer looking shades than some of the basic colors that Ford used. And you thought it was going to be an easy decision...... !
I always thought that the Deep Shadow Blue Metallic with the tan EB package was a nice combo. Whatever you do please don't paint it with the flipflop or illusion or whatever they call this stuff that changes color. I seen a new vette that someone did this to and obviously they had more money than taste but man was it ugly. If you were going to change to a different auto companies paint I think Cadillac's Diamond white would be a nice combo with the EB also.
What about having it painted in a color that wasn't offered on the Eddie Bauer Broncos, originally, like Bright Regatta blue?Another suggestion would be Deep Emerald green metallic, which was first offered in 1991 for all Bronco models.Check out Ford's paint colors for the 2002&2003 models, too.
