Cleaning transfer case motor

Is it easy to clean the transfer case motor on a 2000 ford ranger? I think it's just stuck. What are some things I need to know before taking it off? Thanks for any help!

I have never rebuilt one. I just replaced mine. Not sure they are even rebuidable. Maybe spray some type of rust buster in it and hook it to a battery to see if it moves back and forth???

There are threads about this in the Explorer and Bronco II forums. You should find some in the Ranger forum too. Yes, you can clean them and yes it is fairly easy. You might just have to adjust it.
