Okay im thinking of cutting off my muffler and running a straight pipe from
the cat out in front of my rear wheel,so how loud will this make my truck
sound? it has a 460 with one of those 30" long cats, and how much will
this effect my performance and emissions testing that we must do here in
wash?
It will make your truck louder for sure. How much? I have no idea because I have never owned a 460. You will probably notice very little performance gain (as in not any). As far as emissions, removing a muffler will not affect emmmissions whatsoever. A muffler just muffles the sound, the cat does all the emmissions, so as long as you have the cat on you will be fine. Your state may require you to have a muffler tho.
dude all i can say is it will be EXTEMELY loud. i ran for about 2 miles with my 360 strait pipes and it rattled my brain the whole way. i loved it and hated it at the same time. the reason was i was heading to the muffler shop from the body shop. but anyway i noticed the throttle got alot more responsive and i could barely keep the tires to stay put on the ground instead of spinning and smoking. all i can say is cut that thing off and try it out. but cut it off in a way you could clamp or weld it right back on if the results arnt what your looking for. have fun buddy
With the cat it won't be that loud. 460's make some really nasty noise without the cat and they drone like a **** in the cab. Keep the cat or restrict the SH$T out f the exhaust(thats to keep it quiet in the cab) But heck yeah, turn it out in front of the tire with the cat, it will be deep and throaty.
Yah, Thats why I was wondering how loud it might be only cuz this thing has that
30 inch long cat sorta like a cherry bomb only with the air tubes attached.
