I'm looking at a 01 Super crew for my girlfriends new DD/once in a while tow rig/family truckster. I found an 01 4x4, 5.4, with 35" ATs, 4.10s, and a lift, with 60k on it. What kind of mpg can I expect if I drive it easy, around town and highway. Any things specific to these trucks to look at prepurchase? Thanks for your time.
Welcome to FTE !
City 14.5 to 17, highway 19.1. These are nominal and yours wil very with tire size, differential ratio and how far you push the pedal to the floor between filling up. All in all the truck is a very nice vehicle. She will like it and so will you. Joe
i get 14.5 on the highway winter, and almost 17 highway in the summer. i have 3.55 axle and standard tires wich are probably 32 inch, so your 4.10 with 35 would be similiar gearing. I would expect a little less MPG spinning those big shoes.--- I pull a 16 ft car trailer with small tractor or to lumber yard with 3000 pounds on it, gets about 13 on the highway with that.

take it from someone that actually owns one with the 5.4..you will NEVER see that kind of mileage with those tires.
I have the stock 17's and i can hit 17.5 hwy once in a great while...but DD is about 14-15.
She'll wait for the right one, if she was picky and high maintenence, she wouldn't be test driving trucks on my dime .
I will be looking for a stock unlifted super crew, does 14city/17highway sound reasonable? I'd run bfg ATs (stock or one size up), K&N filter, and probably a cat back.

I run P265/70R17 Cooper Discoverer ATR's (on the OEM rims...no need for the LT's harsher ride and increased cost), K&N Series 77 intake (from a non-sponsored site, much cheaper) and cat backs...before i installed the Power Programmer, I could hit 17 on the highway and generally 10-11 in the city (but that's with the heavy right foot so the sound of my Flomaster could bounce off the cars/buildings)....
I could see you hitting 12-14 city.

I have an '01 4x4 5.4 3.55 Screw with 275/70-16 and I've logged the mileage for EVERY tank since I bought it used in 2002. The 4 year annual average is 14.9 mpg. The best I ever got was 17.7 the worst is 12.5; typically city is in the low to mid 14's and highway is in the mid to upper 15's.
My truck has 80k miles on it now and I maintain it meticulousy. I typically drive slower than most folks.

I can see you getting those numbers, you'll have to be nice to it though.
