Hub Help.. Dana 50 front

Pulling hubs off a 1990 F-250 extended cab 4x4 with a Dana 50 front axle. I bought the special socket tool that fits the slots in the lock ring. That's great. Now behind the lock ring we have the adjusting nut that has four ears on it. Is the tool designed to engage both of these parts or do I need another socket?

Generally speaking this is. their both the same or should be. Seems a small burr can develop on one of the ears or nut and it makes it near impossible to get the socket on it. Try rotating the socket to the next lined up spot etc,etc till it fits. If your talking 2 totally different nuts then I have no idea what someone put in there. Most Ive seen are like a perfectly round collar with 4 cutout areas to fit the socket or there just big nuts like DC uses mostly it seems.

Thanks guys. I figured it out. I have never been inside one of these axles before, and mistook the lockwasher for a nut with the ears on it. Once I got the washers out of the way the tool fit like it should, the spindles unbolted and the axles are out. Thanks again.

Ok. So here is another question. Is the seal between the axle and the spindle available Napa or Autozone? I don't need the torrington bearing in the spindle- it looks fine- only the seal. I can't seem to find a source, and mine are trashed.

The seal that goes on the axle shaft? We just bought some for a 95 250 (Dana 50) and got them from the dealer. They were around $25 or so Canadian.
