A/C measure/temp question
If it's 40 outside, shouldn't it be blowing so cold (60 is max cold, right?) that I'll freeze my hand off holding it in front of the vent?
HOW do I measure it and where do I measure it?
HOW do I know if it's ok?
Rear AC off or on when I test?
The fan is powerful though..
I've had this problem all the time with my Rodeo. The dealer I've got it from had the worst service and they always claimed it was ok.
I also had it recharged/looked at several times, PAYING for it but nothing.
How will I know if they're lying if they say it's ok (assuming it's NOT of course)?
I was looking forward to something that will keep me cold in the summer. My neighbors have a Kia Sportage that gave me a headache this summer it was so cold..
Thanks
George
It'll help us all out. Make the change by clicking on USER CP on the upper left corner of the page. Choose EDIT SIGNATURE. You have to test it right at one of the center vents. I cannot remember off-hand the temps in which it will come out and cannot recall if the AC should be colder in the winter or at least as cold as your example is. For some reason I do not think it should be but...
It doesn't really matter ifthe rear AC is on or not. The rear AC is only a recirculating system. It uses the same compressor, though. That's one of the reasons why the Excursion's AC is so much better than our Super Duty brethren. MORE refrigerant! TWICE as much!
Which leads me to my next thought. Why don't you get the AC pressure tested just to make sure you've the correct amount of refrigerant in there and that there are no leaks. You still need the AC in winter to help dry the air for the Defroster.
Who should I have test the AC, the Ford dealer where I plan on taking it?
Is it in their interest to tell me the truth and work on it or not? I didn't buy it from them and I bought Ford's Premium Care warranty so it shouldn't affect them and they DO get paid for servicing it, right?
Thanks
George
Monsta .... I believe on the climate controled ones in manual mode you can hit the vent button then the recirculate and it'll work that way without the compressor coming on. Did it the other night by accident.

I've really enjoyed reading your "journey" to your X... I receintly sold my 71 F100 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320060359864 to finish off my basement and with 3 young sons (age 5-6-8) I am itching closer to selling my F250SD/SC (you can see a pic here at my ebay "ME") http://members.ebay.com/ebaymotors/w...=bigrrredtruck and start my own journey to X ownership.
I am a SD nut but as our 3 sons grow, my wife's Grand Caravan is starting to get a bit cramped and the Super Cap just won't cut it either... the only logical option it an X... and of course when I get mine it will be a "he too"
You keep postin' and I'll keep readin'.

Whoops almost forgot... I remember a few years back when I got my SD I asked the same question (I got my SD in a late fall) to a AC tech friend and he said the AC systems do not operate when temps are 60ish and below... Don't quote me on it but have the OCD bug that seems to bite you too and I was freaking out when my truck did not blow cold in late fall.

Bottom line, it's NOT supposed to cool when it's so cool outside?
THanks

ThanksI have to say, I LOVE IT! I can't stand the seat though. I'm riding down the road and my neck's killing me. I'll have to figure that one out soon.
Other than that, I love the thing and yes, this is important, mine IS a boy

Yeah, I'm an AC freak and I don't much care if it cools in the winter (doesn't make sense to me but if you guys say it's so, I'm cool with it) as long as it blows and freezes my walnuts off!

That's one thing about my Isuzu Rodeo. AC SUCKED and I paid to have it fixed several times but that was a waste of money.
I hate people that claim they know what they do and then don't!
