I'm going to be picking up a '60 F100 that I'm told has the original V-8/automatic setup (haven't seen it for myself, but comes from a reliable source and just one of those deals you CAN'T pass up...). I'm assuming it has a 292, but what automatic would it have? Would it have a 9" rearend? Thanks in advance.
When I got my '60, it had the stock 292 with a Fordomatic tranny and a 9" (3.7-3.3M) rearend. Get all the info from the data plate on the inside of the glove box door and post it here. We can help more then. Welcome to FTE!

Two Y-blocks were offord, the 272 & the 292, w/ an outside chance of it also being a 312 if the factory ran out of 292's.
W/ the Ford-o-Matic or Cruise-o-Matic as options, but more than likely the Ford-o-Matic.
The 9' became the standard Rearend after it was 1st Intro'd in '57.
Ok Flashy, prove it! I want to see litature, parts books etc! Ford did not offer a 272 past 1958! 292s were the only optional engine on 1959-1960s. Not to say ford didn't sneak a 312, but they only advertised 292 v8s. I'll gladly post a pics or two in a few mins.... Oh and does anybody here own one of flashy's 59-60's with the "optional" 272? Please, let us see it!

Oh, so you've seen it all, know it all & are of a Certainty, that if a Buyer Really wanted the 272 Y-block, that FoMoCo wouldn't sell it to them just because it wasn't listed option?
What do you believe they did w/ all those left-over 272 Y-blocks, Junqued them & took a Profit loss during the '50s Recession, hardly.
Like any other Business out to make a Profit, FoMoCo WILL Sell to a Customer What Ever combination of Options they Wish to Own, even if it was no longer a Standard Option, if they've the parts available.
I know what I know from research & having SEEN them straight from the Factory that way because my Ranching relatives in N.M. & Texas owned '59s & '60s w/ the 272 Y-block, they stated they were given a Real Sweet Deal from the Dealership for ordering them that way.
Sneak in a 312? No sneak about it, as it was blantantly used as some of the factories Ran-out of the 292's & the Only thing on hand in those particular factories were the 312's, so that's what was used.
So unless you've Walked a Mile in My Moccasin's & have Ever delt w/ '57-'60 year models in all their permutations w/ in the Norm & outside of it, other than your 2many'56s, I'd cop a different 'tude if I were you. We're all here to Learn, Help others, some here have Done things w/ these trucks & Seen F/M series truck Variations that Do Not Fit the Norm.
So unless you change your Snotty 'Tude & Retract your attempt @ being Pithy & if you choose not to, do Not bother to attempt Any further contact or reply to my posts, especially for such a Snotty 'Tuded .
Only friends & those that have leave use anything other than what is Listed in my signature, boy-o.
Especially not by such a so Brazenly insulting member.

So if I told you that I've seen 59's with 352 from the dealership, you should believe me because its my word against yours?
We all know they switched over in 58 to 292s, if there was any 272s left, they surely wouldn't have made it past 59 for sure. Is it possible 272s were still put in trucks? Maybe, but the fact that I myself nor anyone else, beside yourself have come across any, leads me to believe this may of been result of a special circumstances. Not a FoMoCo option in anyway. The way you stated it above, you made it sound like a regular production option. I'll gladly stand corrected if you can come up with some proof.
On the subject of automatics, Ford-O-matic= f100 Cruise-O-matic= f250-f350
Rear end more than likely as stated already a 9in ford But a spicer 44 was optional.
Your comprehension of English seems to be some what lacking, reread the last part of my post, as you've not seen fit to comply, I've taken the Liberty of solving it for myself.
Oh, I'm sorry your the god of 57-60s. Your sir are most correct when it come to 272s in 59-60s. Why should I even question it? Of course Your right, I'm new and have to respect your posts regardless if your right or not.
Of course arguing on the internet with a hurt, out of work actor who hides behind a fictional character on the internet is foolish. I will refrain from any more posts like this because its merely useless. Tutone, I'm sorry for hi-jacking your thread, hopefully your questions have been answered.
