When I shut down the engine on our 95 F-150 351w, and the hood is up, I usually hear a soft buzz sound that fades away after a few seconds. I hear it coming from the ignitor area.
I've heard it in several vehicles, not just my pickup. I always thought it was just the fuel pump relieving a little bit a pressure, but thats just an idea. I really don't know for sure.

Is this normal?

I do not know what an "ignitor area" is but you will have a sound coming from the backside of the engine compartment on the passenger side as the A/C system equalizes through the metering orifice.
All so the check valves in the brake booster and the vacuum lines going to the vacuum reservoir will make a noise if they are bad.
You have less vacuum on the fuel pressure regulator so it will try to hold more pressure back, not bleed off so this should not make any noise unless it has a hole in its diaphragm or is bad.
You may also hear pressure bleeding pass the rings right after the engine is shut off.
my 94 5.0l does the same thing. seems to come from the solinoid, and when I jiggle around the conector going into it and it goes away. lasts probbably about 8 to 13 seconds.
I also have this noise, a very faint whirring/wheezing noise, almost sounds like someone blowing spit bubbles through a straw (sorry for the vulgar description, heh). It seems to be come from near the brake booster. Do I have bad vacuum lines?
