I just had a quick questions for those of you that have added the cab lights. Did you get it somewhere or did you do the install your self. I checked and ford and the parts will cost me less then $100. Im just afraid of drilling holes in the top of my truck. Id hate having to pay for someone to do it but Id rather have someone else to blam if they did ever leak.
I also asked for if they would do it but they told me it was to much of a "liability".
Any advice would be great, Thanks.
I installed them myself. Gettign the nerve up to drill the first hole IS the hardest part. Got the lights from napa and wired them myself. I think they were less than $40. I made a template to help with the install, and took measurement off another truck. Mine were installed on my 95 but I used the superduty lights. worked great never leaked. also the headliner needs to come down since the lights ahve studs with nuts instead of screws going in from the top.
I bought NAPA lights and did the job myself too. I put masking tape on the roof and marked the position of the lights and holes on the tape before drilling. The measurements are available if you do a search (something like 8.5" inches between the center light and the inner lights, and 11" inches between those and the outer lights - I think). Something like 5 inches back from the front of the roof, but you should check i.e. don't rely on my addled memory.
There is a connection behind the passenger side kick panel that powers the lights when factory fitted. I hooked into that and didn't have to worry about having a seperate switch or finding a power supply etc - they now come on with the regular light switch.
