York OBA setup

Ok, so getting setup to do my OBA buildup with a York compressor. Picked one up at the junkyard today, at least I think that thats what it is, it matched the description, but I don't know the Motorcraft codes, and of all the one's I've seen, I've never seen one with a harmonic balancer-looking thing. Is this what I was looking for?

so the york was the one that said YP on the tag? because that one had a motorcraft tag on it too. People said that these were just yorks that ford used their tag on

yea they are exactly the same design, i dont know if they just used seperate tags or not or if the internals can be swapped around. i do know they will work just fine and know several folks run them hard.

yeah, the problem in that a lot of oil gets into the air system, and you can fix it by plugging one of the holes. Heres a few links.

Also, none of the other compressors i found had that large harmonic balancer looking thing on it. Is that what it is?

yea it just helps to balance it

i have had no problems with my setup and just run the pump like it is. i know you can buy a coelescing filter setup and put the oil back in the pump but thats a lil pricey

lol its cool man, i dont mind the questions. thats what these message boards are for!

yes york 210

no clue how to decipher the motorcraft tags

i check the oil about once a month or so and usually top it off. however you should know that i have mine laying on its side, that could play a huge factor in the oiling issue

i have it on a pressure switch but i also have a switch on the dash so if something happens i can cut the power regardless of what the p-switch wants!
