Chip not working

The other day I was at a light and thought I would hit the high idle to help her warn up faster. Well when I switched it I got nothing, not even any of the other tunes which meant no smoke. I got home unhooked the batts checked the chip, the wire and the switch. All looked ok, so I reinstalled it and it worked. My question is did unhooking the batts or did the chip just slide enough to not make contact any more fix it?

Maybe it was just the chip contacts. Usually the truck wont start if the contacts are bad, or it will set a check engine light.

My chip will make mine start with hi idle even when the switch is on 100hp...and some times when you start it the engine lopes like a pulling truck. Is this normal?
