****THIS VEHICLE IS A FORD RE-AQUIRED VEHICLE. AT THE TIME THIS VEHICLE WAS RE-AQUIRED, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS BUYING BACK ALL VEHICLES WITH THE DEFECTIVE PCM MODULES. ALL THESE VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED WITH THE UPDATED MODULES AND REMARKETED TO FORD DEALERS WITH AN ADJUSTED 12K/12 MONTH WARRANTY
I copied and pasted this from the ad for a Box truck I am looking at buying on eBay. Just wanted to find out what the deal is with it. I never heard of such a thing but that doesnt really mean much.
I am in a bought back 2004 Excursion 6.0 Eddie Bauer with 20,000 miles on it when I bought it. Whenever Ford buys them back you get a 12 mos 12k mile warranty no matter the year or miles. The Oasis report on mine had a turbo replaced, the tranny replaced and various other small things, but the reason mine was bought back was for a main seal oil leak. I have been very fortunate, I now have 29,000 miles and it's been doing just fine. I did buy a 6 year 100k mile warranty though! If you buy one of these buy back trucks most certainly get the longest extended warranty that you can and you'll be fine. The standard 100k mile warranty on the motor still aplies to bought back trucks. Many times buy backs can be great because the previous owner got sick of fixing the same issue over and over again, but most times the issue gets taken care of before it get re-sold. My tranny is good, the turbo works fine and mine does not drip a bit of oil in the garage!! I wouldn't shy away from a buy back if you can get the long extended warranty.
I guess I got lucky.I have a buy back 03 cc lb Lariet that had only 33150 miles on it .I had to have a turbo replaced with the vgt siloniod due to sitting they said. Other than that, I get 20-22mpg on open highway empty and 15-17 daily driving on her. I'm more than happy with my buy back.It was bought bach due to the computer problems. My flash starts with a 3u somthing and thats all that been done acording to the oasis. Great truck for me and hope for you!!
Ford in Oct. 2000 bought my XLT 250 back, and gave the identical New truck in a 2001 model for $2,600 cash difference. The reaspon was it had been in the shop four times for major oil leaks, including turbo oil line shooting oil all over. Two wheel drive model for both trucks, the buy back one had 9000 miles.
My 2001 has never leaked any oil. but at 59,000 miles it blew the turbo oil lines outside of the six year time limit, and it was over $750 for repairs.
