Turn Signal Problem
'97 Ranger, 2.3L 4-cyl, 5-speed manual. I searched through past posts, also checked the Haynes manual, found no answer. The problem: over a period of weeks the turn signals worked less and less often -- usually the left one worked, but for the right one I'd have to flip the handle two or three times. Then the left started doing the same thing, and for the right I'd have to flip the handle six or seven times, and even then sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Now neither works. But the emergency flashers work. Does each have its own flasher unit? The Haynes manual says there's a flasher unit under the steering column, but doesn't mention that there's two. If there's only one, and the emergency flashers work, what would make the turn signals not work?
