I took my 02 7.3 PSD in for my 5000 oil change and service. ( I purchased a service plan for oil change and tire rotations when I bought the truck). Of course the dealer wants to sell me more stuff... here is what they recommended... Complete driveline service .. 279.95 what is this?
Diesel Induction service 179.95 what is this?
and the kicker.. they told me my manual hubs are not working (they do work in auto mode) 630.00 (this includes new hubs)
So How hard is it to replace the hubs and or do they even need it? Can they be removed greased up and reinstalled? I never removed them before. Also if I have to get new ones Are aftermarket one better? So far I have never used the manual lock anyway, I figure its probably just stuck... any ideas? jeff

You would have to ask the dealer specifically what this involves. Some dealerships do worthwhile maintenance and fluid changes, others just tag on fancy names for simple checks and inspections, then try to overcharge for it. From the sound of it, my first guess would be they are trying to overcharge you for stuff you don't need. But then again, I'm not there to ask the service guy directly what's involved.

More than likely they are frozen in the auto position. When this happens it's very difficult to get them to turn manually ever again. I've heard of some guys soaking the hubs in tranny fluid and various other things, some with success, some got nowhere. They are easy to replace yourself. Check Ebay for some that are new in the box, or you can get a set of Warn manual hubs. They won't automatically lock anymore like the stock units, but they won't break either.
one of our resident Guru's has a website that shows how to service the hubs and other popular mods...
his site is a wealth of information and he explains how to do each step with pictures!
