I'm in the 90's truck forum now .I posted eairler but no response which suprised me. On how to beef up front end I can handle the rear springs. I drive a 94 F150 4x4 SC LB now and am looking for newer truck for trips. I drive a 2002 XLT sc 4x4 F150 at work . The reason I want to beef new truck up is when hauling my mower the squats the 2002 but not my 94 which is stock. Any Idea's I hate to go to F250 although they ride better and seats are more comfortable (Softer). But milage will suck . Thanks guys
Throw some more details.
How heavey is the mower? Is it being hauled in the box?
Are you pulling a trailer?
What is the tonge weight if pulling a trailer? How many axles etc.
I agree with Bluegrass 7, how much does the mower weigh, are u puting it in the bed of your truck, u might need a trailar. I would kinda like to know, about a 98 F-150 4x4 6.5 bed for a snow plow? I pull a 16 Ft trailar with 2 com. mowers, I hope this helps.
Putting a mower in the rear wont make a difference to your front end. If the rear squats a lot maybe you should just get some overload springs.
Ive got a plow on my 99 F-150 4x4 short bed.
I load it in bed whole truck sags a bit yes the back more than front . but still worse than my 94. I just wondered how you might go about it. As will have a plow on it in far future . The front just feels wimpy with a load on. Goto save the 94.
The rear is no problem I'll add springs .The mower weights 560 lbs.w/out deck.Probably 800 lbs with camping gear. I have a car trailer but I can't take it to my camp. Aside from it getting hung up going in it /trailer would be in way all time there. Alos if older truck dose it fine shouldn't need trailer
I'd just get a SD because the better seats and ride and manual trans ,but the 5 less mile per gallon would suck . And I can drive 500 + miles to work a week at times. I just want to know what can be done to beef up the front suspension . I know its not like my 94 just put bags or 1 ton coils on front . So Im asking the guy's that drive them every day. Thanks

800 pounds in the bed should have no effect on the front end. you dont need different springs in the front. i would leave it alone. what makes you think a 250 would ride better than a 150? 250 has stiffer springs.
Lets start over . I was just asking how to beef up front end. What has to be done to make it hold up better if I get a 2000 up F150 . I will probably put a plow on it and just want to know what can be done. If it means anything few of my friends with old style 90's Fords have same question .
As for the ride I think a truck should ride like a truck. And with the hard seats in the F150 they aren't that far apart. I drive SD's weekly as well as the 2002 F150 4x4 and I would take the SD any day. But Its a MPG thing.
If you get a plow I wouldnt use an all steel one. Mine is a 6.5' poly meyers blade. I can drive around like it isnt even there. As for beefing up the front end I think all you can really do is get some stiffer shocks or maybe some asjustable ones so you can stiffen them up when you have a load on the front end. Other than the typical ball joint issues with the front end Ive been pretty impressed with its strength. Its not as good as a solid axle but its done everything Ive needed it to do.
Cool thanks guy's all I needed to know. I had bad luck with a poly plow once (I live where 3 roads meet and found out ploy plows don't like ice. ) . Thank so much I'll check on helpers. I'm going to check on plow options before buy.
