Hey, I was wondering what the top speeds of your broncos are? I have a 92 Nite with stock gearing and a 351 5.8l v8 and also a comp cam but i can only roll about 85 floorboarded whats the deal? I run 33x14.00x15s so i realize the top speed would be reduced a little bit but it shouldnt be this slow should it? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Well this subject has been covered here before, and most people thought "why would you want to go that fast in a Bronco?" Well anyways you didn't say what gear ratios you have. The 33 inch tires are not really helping the cause either. In my opinion Broncos are very underpowered, so do some mods to your 351. Just remember what might happen to you if you roll it at these speeds.
Yeah it would be a bad deal if i rolled going that fast but im just wondering if i have a weaker motor than normal my gears im pretty sure are 3.55s i plan on upgrading them this week to 4.10s and also puttin in a hypertech performance chip so we'll see if that doesnt help im sure another problem is my choked exaust from the bashed in muffler from throwing my driveshaft:-staun.
I am running 3:55 in my 90 Bronco with a 351 and 32 inch tires, and I can get my Bronco over 85 mph. It is possible that you engine is tired. How many miles do you have? Switching to 4:10 will help the acceleration, I am not sure about your top speed.
My 96 351 with 33's will show over 85 on the speedo, and the highway patrol just informed me it's actually 7 mph faster than what that shows. So pretty close to 100.

I hope they didn't inform you with one of those wonderful safe driving awards/donation to the police mans ball...
I couldnt emagine (sp) going a 100 mph in my bronco. Besides it would probable rattle apart..
A tired engine could be the problem as well, it had over 180,000 miles on it when i bought it and now it has about 190,000 now. I guess i shouldnt worry about speed anymore because this summer i plan on going with 38" ground hawgs and when your that high i doubt you wanna go too fast. Speaking of rollovers does anyone have a rollbar in their bronco? And where did you get it from?
my 95 has stock 31s on it w/355s and a 5.0 with 120,000k on the clock, and even with the 302, itll pegg the speedo with no problem. itll lay on the rev limiter in third gear, then i turn the od back on and itll ever so slowly slow back down till it kicks down again. but i am also 50ft above sea level to- im sure that has alot to do with it. sadily, i thought it was slo for a bronco

If you are going to put on 38's you might want to rebuild or buy a new engine. You will need a lot more power to turn those meats! Also don't forget that the 8.8 inch and the dana 44 that your Bronco came with wasn't meant for tires like that so you might want to upgrade your axles too if you are going to off-road it.
oh yea... have someone get in to the truck and push the pedal to the floor and hold it(with the engine off :P ), then look and see if the throttle body blades are opening all the way, it may be that "floored" is only like 3/4 throttle
Hey thanks a bunch guys for all of your input i really appreciate it im kind of new to the bronco scene, i owned a 78 stepside with 38s before i got my bronco, and i wouldnt trade it for anything even if it is a little slow.

My old beast used to do almost 100mph (until I had to put in my spare 3.55 axle - I'm going back to 3.08 soon!), and I did occasionally set the cruise there. Yours is actually going faster than you think, and fixing the speedo will ALSO fix some of your power problem. The engine shifts the trans & makes power based in part on the speed signal from the rear axle. To correct it after a tire change (on '92-97 only), you have to recalibrate the PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module). Read this:

You don't even need any tools, other than a little ground wire.
I've had my bronco with a 460 do 100mph and could have easily went faster, but with a 9" lift, loose steering, and tires that need replacing it was scary enough going 100. I didn't care to go any faster. I've got my other bronco with a straight six to go 90mph but that's where it runs out of power.
I have a 1987 EB w/351W HO. Everything is pretty much stock and I got up to around 100 in Montana this summer on a nice straight stretch.
No squeaks, rattles, steering problems...everything was pretty tight - and not scary at all!
