c6 trans
I have an 87 f150 4x4 5.0 with the c6 trans when I floor it it kicks down, but after I let off it will want to stay in second till I ease up on the gas a bit then it will shift into third.If I give it a tiny bit of gas it will shift back down.When I stop and shut the truck off for a couple of minutes it will be ok again,it seems to do it more so when its cold,but not always!!

only two possibilities i can think of, you might need to adjust the kickdown lever, or the bands in the transmission might need adjusting. the band adjuster is on the drivers side of the tranny. refer to a manual or ask in the drivetrain forum the proper procedure. you can also post your symtoms there and see if anyone has another idea.
