Does anyone know if they have upgraded this unit from the 05?
I have a triple axle (6 disc. brake trailer) with elect. over hyd. brakes.
It said in the owners manual of the 05 that the indash would not work, we tried it but it doesn't put out enough power. We ended up putting in a after market control to do the job. My 450 should be in any day, does anyone know if this was updated?
Per page #34 on the 08 Super Duty Owners Manual.....
Note: The Ford TowComand integrated trailer brake controller has only been verified to be compatible with trailers having electrically actuated drum brakes (one to four axles) and not hydraullic surge or electric-over hydraullic types.

This is what I don't get... You buy the F450 because it can haul and tow the most, it has larger dia. wheels to handle the larger dia. brakes. One of the best braking systems on the market for heavy loads are elec. or hyd. You can buy ANY after market brake control and they are capable of operating elec./ hyd.
yet you can't use the latest and greatest indash controler from Ford.
I have people ask me all the time why I have an indash control and yet another aftermartket mounted under the dash.
Good question?
Realize the statement is - Has only been "Verified"....Does that mean, it might work, it won't work or you'll find out down the road?
Any Tech's care to decipher the code?
About a year ago there was an artilcle in 'Trailer Life' about electrlic/hydrolic brakes. It discussed 4 or 5 different manuf. and the compatablity with different brake controllers. The Ford Tow Command was part of the survey. If you go to a library you might find the issure or contact the different axel/brake manuf. for compatablity.
