I know there has been talk about what they can handle, but what I want to know is what can they really handle in the long term?
I am remaking my 69 F250 into a tow/haul rig, and dropping a diesel into it, with a Clark overdrive 5speed. Basically, how far can I crank this diesel before major things pop? I plan on upgrading to D70 axles with a Detroit locker, but at what point can I expect the carrier to try and walk out of the case? And how big of a help would a stud girdle setup be?
a cover/girdle like a ta performance and the upgraded stub shafts at least or complete upgraded axles would make a 60 pretty tough.the only time i have seen a 60 break was a friend of mine had a mudder with 44 boggers and he OCCASIONALLY broke the front end, but it took alot of abuse before it broke.
