I would bet you couldn't make it on one tank of fuel. You would be ok on the 5south to Bakersfield, not too many hills or stops. But once you start east you have the grapevine or the highway 58 to deal with and then all the traffic from LA and then the hills from Barstow and mountains along the way, not to mention the wind. Plan on 2 tanks and 10 to 14 hours. Be careful of the Chippies and their planes. It's a huge revenue generator along that route

Good luck.
Well thats good to know! im used to being able to fly on the 15 thru the desert. So figuring 2 tanks of diesel i can guesstimate the van will get about 12 MPG. Does that sound about right?
You should get more than 12. Of course the winter fuel will make it worse, but you should still get more than 12, especially if you are empty. My 01 gets 16-18 on the highway.

Cool thanks. That will help me benchmark its current state of perfomance.
