My truck gets 10MPG on regular gas. If I swiched over to Propane would it still get 10MPG on propane? Or does it not work like that? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
it would be mpp miles per pound. you would get about 15 to 17 miles per pound. if you find any info on converting to propane let me know i am very serious in doing it.
ok i'm interested. 800.00 is too much. i just went ot ebay you can get the mixer, converter, shutoff for about 100.00. then i priced the hose and fittings which is another 90.00 then a used forklift tank is 70.00 . i might just run the bbq tanks because i can't refill the forklift tanks here. i read it and it is pretty easy looking. i may give this a shot.
i find that my $ per kilometer is actually comparable to my dads 2004 dodge 1500 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi and i have a 1979 f150 with a 460
thats with propane at $ 0.45/litre and gas at $0.97/litre
i do not have a digital camera. but if u are interested my setup is an impco 425 mixer(carb) with an impco model E converter (evapourater) and a vucuum fuel lock off.
on average propane yeilds about 1 - 2 mpg less then Gasoline. It does save though as gas is much more ex*****e then propane. Remember though, propane is still a byprodut of gas.
