which do you think is best?

Hi

My 92 5.0 Flareside has dual 2" pipe running into a pair of cherry bombs (glass packs). Cats have been removed. The right side has rotted off behind the muffler and the left is on it's way. Lots of cracking and popping when i start it and that ever present glass pack sound when you accelerate.

I went to a shop and his estimate was one of the following:

New 2" from the headers back with a pair of Glass packs and 3x16 tips.
or
New 2 1/4" from the headers back with a pair of "turbo" mufflers and 3x16 tips.

He said he'd do either one for the same $350 out the door. He said both would give good back pressure for my mostly stock 5.0 and have a good sound either way.

My two questions are will the turbos "burn-out" and become a little louder as time goes on and what kind of sound will it be compared to glass packs?
and....Is there any performance "ie" better breathing advantage in one over the other.?

Thanks

i went from packs to turbos on my 96 f150, 302. i wish i wouldof just stuck with glasspacks, im planing on switching back this summer

at first i had 2.25 inch duals, no cats, and a set of thrush glasspacks. i decided the packs were two loud, and i switched to a set of cherry bomb super turbos.

if you like the glasspack sound then stick with glasspacks, the turbos sound tough but no where near as mean as the packs did.

ive got a 95 f150 with a 302. i run straight 2 1/2 pipes from each manifold back with no cats, no mufflers, and bend it out at 45 degrees behind the rear tires. You can not beat this sound. no snap crackle pop just a muscle car like tone. No oxygen sensor problems or back pressure problems at all. Added a little power and is the best sounding ford around here by far. livin in a hick towns got its advantages!
