I am looking to replace my factory fog light bulbs in my 06. I was woundering if anyone has replaced theirs with silver stars or anything equivlent to silver stars. If you used a different kind of buld please tell me what it is and where you got them. Any pics would be great. Thanks Ryan
Put a set of them in my 06 sport but I installed them in the regular headlight
sockets. I wouldn't mind a brighter bulb for the fog/driving lights though, something with a little more distance.
I've got the silver stars in some clear lenses on my 94. I love them! It's like pure daylight in front my my truck. I should probly tilt them down tho, I'm constantly getting people flash their brights at me when I dont have mine on.
Also, the addition of the fogs greatly helped fill in the void the clear lenses and lights created. They're like having to 10,000,000 candle power spotlights on!
i used to have the silver stars up front, u should use the 9007 type in your ranger. they were great! a little pricey, but at night, on a dark road, 40$ doesnt matter if you dont see that deer up ahead!! (think about that) i switched out my silver stars for more silver stars..the ultra series. WOOOOW! those are bright! id say, instead of paying 40$, go ahead and pay 50$ and get the ultras. they are worth it!
I have all silver star bulbs in the front of my truck. 9007s in the headlights and 9145s in the fogs and I cant remember the part number for my front marker/turn lights but they are all very bright. I had 1 fog bulb burn out already which at $23 a piece made me mad that it went out after a year and a half but I love them other than that. The turn signal bulbs are cool because when not lit up they are almost clear but light very bright amber.
I've been considering these bulbs. I like good lighting but first pass they are quite pricey. Isn't it correct that these bulbs do not have any additional candlewatt power (I think the maximum is regulated by law), but are instead a whiter light?
I use the Silver Stars and they are great. They really put off a much furhter beam than the stock bulbs. They are a little pricey, however fairly middle of the pack for comparbles. I bought mine at Advance I believe while they had some mail in rebate thing going on, I think they ran me about $25 -$30 for the pair.
I have a set in my truck and love them. I actually fond them in a sale bin at Wallyworld and picked them up for 25 bucks. It would have been worth so much more though.
Silverstar headlamps not worth the money. The reason I believe this is because I put a set in, and yes they were brighter but they only lasted about eight months. After that I contacted Sylvainia about this and they told me it was a trade off, because they were brighter they would not last as long. Normally about a year is what you can expect under normal usage, but I use mine a little more I guess. So I say not worth the $35.00 I paid for them.
im with crazy,
i used them in my tacoma, yes they are much brighter and its great........while they last.
i had a friend who could get parts for way less(hot), who sold me a pair for my headlightes cost me 10 bucks, i went through 3 sets in about 1.5 years time.
i didnt do a ton off offroadin, but alot of dirt raod driving, gettin squirley etc....dont know if maybe they were breaking inside due to bumping or just burning out, but i litteraly had to change a bulb very so often, alot more than regular halogens.
Ive had my SilverStar headlight bulbs in for over 2 years and no problems yet. I did blow the one fog light bulb after about a year but no problems other than that.
Where is everybody buying the Ultras? Is there a place on the net to order?
I have a 2005 f-350, and want to replace the headlights as well as the driving lights. Anyone know the replacement nunmbers? Is there a chart somewhere?
