I have a '96 Bronco and noticed yesterday that i'm starting to get rust bubbles around the rear wheel wells, whats the best way to get rid of it before it gets worse?
Hello,
I'm not an expert body man in eliminating rust. However, I found a decent way to prevent it. First, I stick a high pressure car wash hose underneath the wheelwells to eleminate any mud/salt, etc. from eating into the Bronco wheelwell. Then I shoot some engine oil behind the wheel wells and let it set there. I also squirt some engine oil into the tailgate and doors. For the last 5 years, this system has worked. I live in northwest Indiana which sees decent snowfall. With constant cleaning and oiling, I've managed to keep my 95 Bronco pretty much rust free. Good luck if you use this procedure.
As above . And go get fixed. I take my rust free truck in the body shop and clean oil , and fix nicks etc . The longer you let it go it will spread . I had to travel 500 miles one way to get my truck and it needed motor. They are all rust buckets or $$$$ around here I want to keep it nice.
Ford set us up for rust in the wheel wells. Take a look at the pictures I posted in my album. Ford put two indentions, one in each end of the wheel house to trap dirt and debris. Click on the thumb nail for more pictures. Look at all the dirt trapped between the quarter and the wheel house in one picture. I cut out the indentions and drilled multiple holes so the dirt can be washed out. I cleaned the dirt out treated the wheel well with Por-15. I bought a patch panel from Bronco Graveyard for $35.00 to repair the rusted area. I just need time to install the repair panel.
