Throttle Body Cleaning

I recently had to take off my CAI and i was looking at my throttle body. I opened it up and it looked pretty dirty and had a build up against the door. I had read in the haynes manual not to clean the throttle body bc it has a protective coat on it. if i take it off and clean it what should i spray on it to get that coat back or does it matter? also, if i'm going to go ahead and do that should i clean anything else while i have the TB off?

Your local parts store has several brands that say throttlebody safe. I use the CRC brand. If you have a 4.6 make sure to clean the 2 small holes going into the egr tube.
