Question plug in power?

I was told that if you get a chip or a plug in computer for your 6.0L PSD that over time they will burn up the motor is this true? I want to get more power but not sure what to do? I have a 2006 F-250 w/ 6.0L PSD any ideas?

depends on how much you turn it up, and what brand you buy, and if you tow. blacksmoke is cool, but sludges oil, and is hard on engine. i have a super chip tunerbox. stay away from edge, and hypertech

I just got a 2000 F250 7.3. All stock, What would make good sense for mods? 80% of time, I'm looking for better fuel economy. Other 20% i would like to smoke that saved fuel. What should i know before buying a chip? thanks. henry

hey. great choice in the 7.3L. they are an awesome engine. do you tow? i bought a superchips tuner box from stripper motorsports on ebay for $300 brand new. we have 2 7.3s and a superchips for both. for economy, use the tow-performance mode, and we tow up and over to 20000# regularly on the 60 horse middle setting. and the 90 horse, well its fun to blow smoke and play with, but you'll drop about 2 mpg below stock if you are on it alot with the 90 horse. the 60 horse, you'll gain some, maybe, depending on your tranny. you'll gain more with an auto. but, the more smoke, the more harm. black smoke is 50% burned diesel. it polutes oil, by placing carbon deposits in it. my brother is a diesel mechanic, and according to him, and a friend who owns a diesel fuel shop and sells performance products, the best thing as far as safe HP, and less ware on the engine, is superchips. and, you can caliberate for tire size changes, turn off SPEED LIMITER (of course i wouldnt think of it ha ha), and change shift points in an auto.

Question Super Tuner info

Thanks for info. I don't tow. I remodel baths and kitchens and load about 1500-2000lbs on truck. I wanted a F250 or 350 for loads. Didn't have enough money for new truck and wouldn't buy a gasser with 75K miles or more. I found a few diesels w/ 150K miles in my price range. I looked into diesels. i was sold. Why do they make gassers? There are far too many advantages to a diesel. I added to my budget and got a 2000 F-250 w/ 80K miles for $ 20,000. My wife doesn't understand why i would prefer a loud truck w/ 80K miles when i could buy a new gasser for a little more.
I'm reading Diesel mags and reading that air filters are the #1 selling performance mod. $400 for a chip and 100 horses vs. $250 for air filter for 15 horses? Am i missing something? My idea is superchip, NOS, then maybe exhaust. I'm sure the air filter looks cool, but i'd rather have people see my tail lights than my pretty air filter. Don't get me wrong. I'm into nice engine compartments, but horses rule for me.
Those super chips seem far too good to be true. thanks again.

Go to the diesel tread and do a search you should find lots of info. SCT tuners seem to be the most recommended (spelling??) I have one with custom tunes from Matt at LIPD and what a wake up for the 6.0!
Hey BulDog24 just looked at your first post again I see you are in NC I would definatley get in contact with LIPD aka:Long Island Performance Diesel. They are also located in NC and if you are close enough you could probably deal with Matt or Jeremy directly.
