Transmission and Speedometer
Sometimes everything works right on transission, then other times it doesnt. When it doesnt... it slips out of gear, then goes back in. When this happens, the speedometer goes crazy... needle spins around, sometimes just stops at zero and stays there.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Nov-02 AT 02:20 PM (EST)]Pull the ABS sensor out of the rear diff & clean the metal shavings off it. THEN try to figure out why your rear end is wearing so badly. Your shifting & ABS problems are coming from here, too.

gary- all your problems are from the same source. As steve83 says, I would start at the rear ABS sensor. Check the wiring really well, and trace it back to the cab, making sure that it isn't pinched or doesn't have any damage. If there is no damage, and replaceing the sensor doesn't fix it, I would suspect the ABS controller. This can be tested by Ford, they'll probably charge you $75 to check it, or you could just swap it out. I think it is located in the right hand kick panel on your truck.

i have change the sensor in the transmission .changed the moduel thats called the abs moduel ,located on the left side on the frame rail behind the headlite ,put on the computer at ford and another garage ,no codes found. lost gary

i replaced the sensor in the fear end first . even took off the cover on the rear end to check the sensor ring ,was ok. ive done every thing that has been recomend to me . lost gary.
