The alternator on my 92, 4.9L, a/c, manual trans is going and I want to upgrade the amperage. Is there a limit on the vehicle's electrical system on higher amp output alternator's? That is, if I go from a 70 amp to a 130 amp can I expect any problems? Finally, I found a new 130 amp alternator on eBay for cheap. The Ford part number of the eBay item is F85U-BA. Anyone have access to a parts book that indicates whether this alternator will work or not on my vehicle. Thanks.
The voltage regulator is in charge of dispersing the power required.
The larger amperage alt just gives the system *More Ooomph* to look after More electrical devices requirements
ie: A/C, Power this<>power that when they are used at the same time.

Mil1ion is right. Amperage is just a means of measuring how much push there is behind the electricity being generated. As long as the alternator is still spitting out about 14 volts d.c. you can have 400 amps behind it if you can find one that will still fit in the engine bay.
