Power Steering

on my 1979 bronco with a 460 the power steering is rough all of the suddden. When i turn to the right its not that hard but when i turn to the left its horrible and i have no power steering it feels like. When i looked under the hood there was fluid everywhere so i refilled it and then checked it again after driving and it is shooting fluid out of the cap where there is a pin size hole. does this mean that my pump is busted or should there be a small hole in teh cap to release pressure. If anyone can help me that would be great. Thanks

Sounds like your steering box is bad. A common symptom of this is hard turning to one side, and it probably built up pressure and shot out the cap when you tried to turn.

I have just been through the same thing with my 90 - it is definately a bad steering box. Mine would only turn to the left - the right was near impossible. It's fairly easy to replace - I picked up a used one from an auto wrecker for $125 CDN (that's $80 US) & it now turns on a dime! Both ways even!
