I see alot of posts about white smoke from the exhaust, I just had my "white smoke" problem resolved yesterday; but I haven't seen it mentioned yet in any previous posts. My problem was coming from my turbo; not head gaskets, injectors, or unburnt fuel. I'm in NO WAY a diesel tech, just a bolt-on tuner - but here is what I got from the explaination from the service dept. at Ford. They told me that the smoke dissappeared when the "vgt" was commanded open and closed with IDS. They dissassembled the turbo to find an oil seal was leaking through the exhaust side. Replaced turbo and I was on my way. Anyway, just thought that might help someone resolve an issue for further readers!

Suprisingly they didn't give me any grief for my mods. Upon my first visit with the truck, the service rep. told me they would take a look and see if it was an "easy fix" - recieving a call later on in the day - she had told me that I needed to disconnect the six-gun, and bring the truck back. They would have taken it off for me, but she wanted to save me the 86 $/per hr. charge that they would have had to hit me with. I have NEVER been treated so well at any dealership, I guess good people still walk the earth after all!

A buddy of mine owns a GMC Sierra. I guess that's the Duramax. His dealer actually installed his Edge chip and the Edge digital meter on the column. I was amazed. They also lifted the truck 4 inches. He said he asked them to do it so everything was under warranty if he had any problems. At lunchtime on Friday he showed me what it would do. Pretty freaking cool. I told him my PSD could beat his without a chip and he just smiled. Hope he knew it was a joke because that was fast...
sarasota ford did my lift, wheels, and tires...i can't say that i would do business there again...they put 35's on the truck when i payed for 37's, they missed a MAJOR bolt that could've potentially killed me somewhere down the line, and had the truck over 2 weeks to get through all the work...i felt real manly in my purple ford fusion loaner...i'll stick with my LOCAL ford dealer instead!
Just want to check on the white smoke--are we talking about something more than the normal white steam/smoke that you see on a cold morning? Is this something that would happen all the time? (sorry if this is common knowledge, first time diesle owner)
oh yeah, this smoke was OBVIOUSLY not supposed to be there. Before the problem was fixed, I could leave a group of cars blinded leaving a stoplight. It was really bad at idle also... But now she's back to normal and breathing BLACK again...
I think I'll stay away from the Edge tuner. My buddies Duramax had no smoke at all that I could see, but each tune is different and it may not be great on the 6.0L. We were also doing about 90.
