as anyone can tell from my previous posts...i'm extremely stupid when it comes to diesels...
that being said...i ordered a "package" from a company. got exhaust, gauges and......they sent me a diablo, saying that it had the most power. I wanna send this stupid thing back and get my money and order a DP.
that being said, what are the flash tuners good for? any pros for this thing, or is it a waste? this cheap looking thing won't let me install the "tunes" and i've about lost my patience.
Once you get the DPtuner, you can keep the Diablo as a code reader if you want. Most of the guys who went from a flash tuner to the DPtuner keep them for the code reading ability.
Are you sure you got hte right tuner for your truck? Did you send them all the info like year, type of trans etc. Maybe its not compatible with you computer?

No it's a problem with the diablo, I have one for mine, it's the right one and anytime I want to change the tune I have to call them during business hours and get the new code to force it every single time. I have never ever been able to read the codes with it not even once. I will be driving over mine as soon as I can afford to get the DP, cause it's about worth more as filler for my driveway than anything else. yes the tunes seem to work ok for the most part but the ability to change the tunes as I need too for different purposes would be a lot better. heck I would have been better off just sending my PCM in and having it flashed, less agrivation that way.
[QUOTE=Will Rogers]so does this mean that if i get the dp it's gonna start tripping the check engine light and what not and i would need the flash to clear it all?
the dp tuner as any hot chip can trip the SES, you will need a few supporting mods to keep SES under wraps, such as map relief valve or map annhiliator,
this controls the amount of boost read by the map sensor to keep the computer from defueling over 22 lbs. boost and throwing the SES. this is probably the most common code thrown to chipped trucks, but a code reader would be nice to have for trouble shooting other problems down the road, such as CPS failure and so on, the code reader could save you money at the dealer by allowing you to pull, fix and clear your self.
you can get a flash done to your pcm or jody can supply you one.what ever tune you have flashed is what your truck will run as all the time..with a f5 tuner you can switch to what ever tune you want on the fly and you will still have a stock setting..
I suggest getting the overboost annihilator over the cheaper relief valve style, I have had both and could still trip the code with the relief valve but never have had it on since I switched over to the annililator as it's a regulator.
PCM reflash,
to options, pull your ecm and ship it to dp tuner for 75 bucks plus shipping, and have any performance tune you want installed,
or.
call and have them send you one already flashed for 275 bucks, from there, you can keep your stock one to fall back on, or you can send it back to jody for the difference.
i'm getting a map sensor from this same guy...i got screwed around on this deal from the beginning. he told me that he's gonna send me a map sensor....guess i'll get that, install it, send the flash back and get the dp.
