Power Loss
Occasionally, my 2004 F250 Power Stroke seems to drop about 50% of it's power. It's as if a switch was thrown and the engine doesn't produce full power. The truck has not been modified in any way and has 64.000 miles. After a time, the switch seesm to get thrown back and the truck takes off like usual. Any ideas?

The exhaust does not smoke when the power loss occurs. Nothing seems to change except the power falls way off. If I floor it, the tuck will respond as the turbo spools up but still does not have the accelaration it normally does.

Hmmmm..... Hard to say. Doesn't sound like an injector issue due to lack of smoke and EGR is remote for same reason. Hopefully one of the techs will weigh in. However, I'd recommend taking it in to see if it's throwing any codes and have it looked at.

Thanks for the input. The fuel filters were replaced less than 10,000 miles ago but that doesn't mean that a problem could be lurking there. On extended vacation now so will have the codes checked when I get home unless the situation worsens.
