'05 - '07 SD Compass / Temp

Wanting to add compass & outside temperature displays to my '06 F-250, doesn't have the enhanced message center. Other than adding the Ford electrochromatic rear view mirror, what are the other options for a factory looking adder? Will an overhead console from a '99 to '04 super duty fit the '05 to '07?

Has anyone found an aftermarket product they like for this?

My 2005 outside air temp is located in the "auto-climate" controls, not the message center. I think it would probably be easier to get the mirror, than upgrade the heater control system(and then add a compass too), but I'm just guessing...... I'm sure the experts will chime in shortly.

Any links for the mirror solution?

Thanks for the quick reply. $312 without shipping for the 2006 with temp. Some of the non OEM mirrors with this capability are around $200. Aren't these mirrors only made by a couple of companies and then rebadged?

Also, is there an easy route for the temp probe wire out of the cab and to the bumper?

I've been told there is an opening with pigtail wires already through it, in the firewall. Some people go through there. I don't know anything about aftermarket mirrors being rebadged. Actually I don't know much about anything for that matter. That's why I always ask the experts here. I only saw this mirror because they also have one with built in Homelink I was looking at. I decided aginst it because my truck is parked outside(opener now on keychain for security).

Gentex makes most of the auto dimming mirrors with compass/temp/homelink. You can usually find them on ebay or online cheaper than what the ford dealership sells them for.

Thanks beerstalker.

I'll order the gentex when it gets warmer outside.

No prob. I was looking at getting the gentex mirror with compass/temp/homelink until I realized my lariat had a compass built into the info center, and a ext temp reading built into the climate comtrols. Then I found a homelink module on ebay for about $40 and decided to buy it and install it in my visor rather than buying a new mirror. The install was a little more difficult than I thought it would be, but it turned out all right. If I would have been a little more patient when putting the fabric back on it would have looked a lot better.

Homelink is a programmable transmitter that allows you to open your garage door or gate or whatever.

Wayfinder makes a great compass and temp sensor that is wireless. I bought one and have been very happy with it so far. Got it on Ebay. I also have a second temp sensor for the interior temp. Nice.

I bought a aftermarket compass, temp, auto dimming mirror on e-bay for about $85.00 last year. It works great and the instalation kit was very good and easy to install. Looks like a factory unit.

I have the Ford mirror kit with compass and temp that I put in my 05 XLT last year. Removed it when I traded up. If someone wants it give me a PM. I'll let it go for 1/2 the cost of new plus shipping.

MODs..if this isn't allowed in a thread, just delete it....

I finally ordered and recieved the mirror. Looking at the harness and the firewall, I'm not sure where to go through the firewall with the tempature sensor wires. All the current wire bundles are packed pretty tight through the gromets. Not real hot about drilling another hole. For those of you that have done this, where and how did you go through firewall? Thanks for the help.
