Has anyone installed a cold air intake in their bronco with the dual ported throttle bottle? I have been looking around and they all seem to be for the single ported throttlebody. I am either going to have to put together a "y" connected hose or put two cones on two different hoses unless I can find a system for my bronco. I guess I could always replace the throttle body too. I guess I will see what you guys have to say and will see which is cheaper. Thanks in advance.
There is a product by K&N called a(FIPK)Fuel Injection Performance Kit but don't know of anyone that has one. I have read in this forum that they are a waste of money and only give you more air sound. K&N talks highly but then again it is their product. You can do a search in the forum and see what is said though.
Either way, here is a link. http://www.autobarn.net/knhigperfili.html Part # 57-2903 for 88 to 93 5.0 and 5.8's
Good luck and let me know if it works for you when / if you do it because I have been thinking about it for a few months but just never bit the bullet.
K&N have a filter that you can hook up dual tubes to the one filter. There is a post about this whole setup on the mybigbronco message board in the technical forum. check it out, they give the part# and a bunch of other great info. I'll be doing this probably this summer.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Dec-02 AT 05:55 PM (EST)]Check www.performanceunlimited.com they have an very interesting tech article about the pros and cons of going with FIPK versus just putting a K&N filter in the stock air box. The test results show that the intake air temp is actually cooler with just the filter in the stock air box and insulating the airbox. rather than the FIPK which pulls air in from the engine bay that is inherently higher in temp. to begin with.
Maybe I don't understand the question but my 91 EB Bronco has the dual throttle body and hoses that run to a single filter box that has a cold air intake. It's the factory setup. It's also a 302.
Putting in a open element air intake such as a k@n setup will increase your horsepower, It has been proven. But it is best if at the same time you upgrade your exhaust system. I do not believe you will get 25 horsepower like some of them say but you should notice a difference. From late model trucks to those imports the kids run it is a common upgrade. I do agree that it might not be worth the price to some people for the return you get but it sounds alot better when you stomp on it.
