I have just gotten a 2007 Supercrew. I want to raise the speed to over 100 mph. 96 is not going to cut it. I have heard that the transmission will fail if you change the governer from factory to over 100mph. How can I fix this problem? Any info will be appreciated.
The speed is limited by the pcm. You need a tuner to change that limit. And no, your trans will not fail if you go over 100. It may, in time, if you constantly abuse it.
Just one more question....
Why do you need to go over 100? I don't think Texas has raised the speed limit that high.

Don't forget, you may get it to over 100mph, but you also have to stop those 3 tons of roling mass. the only place I would think you would need over 100mph is on a track.

new user, new truck, asking to go over 100 mph. from probably all of us, please make sure it's broke in before you go beating on it! lol... otherwise I'd be glad to take it off you hands and give you a beater to play with
ya know you did buy a truck, not a mustang, plus where would you go that fast, not on the highway. Gosh what would you tell the cops "uhh no i didn't know how fast i was going."
I don't think he ask to get flamed.. Tuner will work.. I don't see a problem wanting to go 100.. i dont' see everyone on here bashing the 2wd guys who want to throw superchargers on there ride to see what ill do.. Have fun breakin 100 in the 3 tons of truck you got, just make sure you got plenty of room to stop...
Wildcard30, I have a good source who put a tuner on his 2006 supercrew, the rear seal on the trans blew around 120 shortly after installing the tuner. A quick call around to other persons in my area who have done this to other F-150's have experienced the same problem. One person also shelled a transmission. Hence my concern about the transmission. Is the transmission on the Lightning the same as on my F-150. I know the lightning will run quite fast and maybe the seal from that truck can be installed in mine to stop the seal from failing. And to all you gents wondering, I do need to go over 100 mph alot of the time, I won't say why, I just do.
As long as ya'll stay off the roads that me and my family drive on. If you don't see a problem driving 100 mph on a public road you are not responsible enough to be driving. If you want to drive that fast go to a track. I will also bet you have never known someone killed due to excessive speed. Things happen alot faster at 100 than at 60 and you can end up just as dead. Usually it is the bystander that is dead not the one being stupid. Just my 2 cents. goldendually
